Fashion showdown! Maggie Grace gets it right in white while Marisa Tomei makes a rare fashion miss in frumpy black trousers and garish blouse

It was the blonde in angelic white versus the brunette in sultry black.
And it seems that light won over dark in this round.
Maggie Grace was pitch perfect in an elegant white fitted dress, while Marisa Tomei made a rare fashion misstep in unflattering high-waisted black trousers and garish blouse at the world premiere of The Flick in New York City on Tuesday night.

The actresses stepped out in the opposite looks to attend the opening of the Annie Baker play at the Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater in midtown Manhattan.

Maggie showed off her slender frame in the white below-the-knee dress, which sported a slimming black pattern and a beige cut-out on her midriff.

The Lost star teamed the frock with stylish black heels and a simple black clutch.

The Ohio native wore her dark blonde hair loose and wavy over one shoulder, highlighting her hazelnut eyes with smokey eyeshadow and adding a pop of colour with coral lipstick.

Marisa, on the other hand, hid her enviable figure in the dowdy trousers and loose brown blouse, which had an orange diamond pattern on the sleeve.

The ensemble all but enveloped the 48-year-old's tiny frame as she posed with one leg in front of the other.

The Wrestler star wore elegant pointy black heels and scraped her auburn hair back into a high ponytail.

The actress boasted a glowing complexion, opting for light makeup that showed off her naturally flawless complexion.

Maggie is currently in the midst of a busy year with her career.

As well as starring in the hit TV show Californication alongside David Duchovny, she also has two movies in post-production, including When Calls the Heart with Stephen Amell and Lori Loughlin, as well as the drama Decoding Annie Parker, which also stars Helen Hunt and Rashida Jones.

She is also set to star in the comedy Relative Insanity, joining Hunt and Duchovny once again.
Marisa, meanwhile, recently got engaged to Logan Marshall Green, star of the blockbuster Prometheus.

The Oscar winning star and Logan spent a festive holiday season together and that's when the 36-year-old actor popped the question.

The couple has been dating on and off since 2008 after meeting while working on a New York theater project together.
